how does it work?
Limelight works by utilizing intense pulsed light (IPL) technology to target and treat skin discoloration and pigmentation irregularities. The system emits controlled pulses of light, which are absorbed by melanin (responsible for pigmentation) and hemoglobin (found in blood vessels). This targeted energy helps break down pigmented lesions, such as sunspots and freckles, and reduces redness caused by vascular lesions. The body’s natural healing processes then eliminate the pigment from these targeted areas, leading to a more even skin tone and improved complexion.
Who is the ideal candidate?
Patients with lighter skin tones looking to address unwanted freckles, redness, or sun damage are good candidates for Limelight. Patients with darker skin tones or melasma are at higher risk of pigmentation changes. All patients undergoing a Limelight treatment must be committed to protecting their skin from the sun post-treatment to avoid any adverse outcomes. Patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or on certain photosensitizing medications should avoid this treatment.
How many treatments will i need?
Generally, patients require 1-3 sessions spaced at least 4 weeks apart to allow their skin to properly heal. Your provider can discuss what treatment plan is best for your individual needs.
